Cambodia Enhances Child and Resident Safety with UXO Knowledge Panels

In Chan Srang district, Preah Vihear province, northeastern Cambodia, awareness panels on Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) have been installed to disseminate knowledge about these dangerous remnants of conflict. This initiative is a collaborative effort involving World Vision International Cambodia, telecommunications provider Smart Axiata, the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC), and local authorities. According to a World Vision official, this activity is part of the "Support and Recovery Project for Cambodian People" supported by Smart Axiata. It reflects a long-term commitment to assist Cambodian communities and families affected by past conflicts, particularly along border areas, in rebuilding their lives. The installed panels are strategically placed in high-traffic areas to ensure that vital safety information regarding UXO risks is widely seen, understood, and remembered. The aim is to enhance community safety and prevent potential dangers, especially for children. In addition to the panels, youth volunteers and community facilitators are actively engaged in sharing knowledge, building community resilience, protecting families, and working towards constructing a safer future for children and all residents.
