Cambodia's Bicycle Exports Reach Nearly $500 Million in 8 Months

Bicycles produced in Cambodia continue to receive support from international markets. Statistics for the first eight months of 2026 show that Cambodia exported a total of over $493 million worth of bicycles. This figure represents an increase of more than $84 million, or approximately 21%, compared to the same period last year. According to data from the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia, bicycle exports have seen significant growth during this period. Currently, bicycles manufactured in Cambodia are known to be exported to many countries worldwide, including those in the European Union (EU), Canada, and the United States. This strong export performance suggests that Cambodia is enhancing its international competitiveness in manufacturing, particularly in labor-intensive industries. In recent years, the Cambodian government has been actively encouraging foreign investment and promoting the development of its manufacturing sector. The bicycle industry contributes to job creation and foreign exchange earnings, making it a crucial pillar of economic growth. In terms of relations with China, Cambodia receives substantial direct investment from China. However, for bicycle exports, traditional markets like the EU and the US remain significant. This diverse export base can reduce dependence on any single market and enhance economic stability.
