Jokowi's Lampung Visit Sparks PSI Political Mobilization

The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) is stepping up its political activities following President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) visit to Lampung. Randy Adytia Gumay Gumanti, chairman of PSI's Lampung branch, announced ambitions to produce more legislators and, in the future, regional heads. Gumanti claimed that communication with several political figures across parties has already begun, including former cadres from NasDem, PKPI, and PDIP. He stated that PSI's DNA is being an "ultra-open party," welcoming all elements of society with the same vision and loyalty to President Jokowi. PSI Lampung is also preparing its organizational strength to face the 2029 political contest, aiming to fill all electoral districts. Previously, President Jokowi had emphasized that PSI's target should not stop at forming organizational structures down to the village level. He urged that all established structures must be transformed into "political engines" that are truly alive and working within the community to face the 2029 General Election. Jokowi delivered this message during the PSI Lampung Regional Work Meeting held at Pondok Rimbawan, Bandar Lampung, on Saturday (27/6/2026). His arrival was met with cheers from hundreds of PSI cadres chanting, "Welcome, Mr. Jokowi, let's fight together with PSI." Before the cadres, Jokowi stated that Lampung is one of the provinces with the most rapid development of PSI organizations in Indonesia. He revealed that PSI's organizational structures in Lampung have been established in over 90 percent of its branches. He considered this achievement a significant capital for building the party's political strength. "In Lampung Province, up to the branch level, it's already above 90 percent. This will become a big engine, a strong party engine," said Jokowi. However, he warned that the existence of organizational structures should not merely be administrative data. "Party engines must be living and working engines. I always repeat this," he stressed. Jokowi also highlighted that PSI's ambition for the 2029 election should be greater than just securing seats in the House of Representatives (DPR RI). He expressed optimism that this target could be achieved if all cadres worked to their maximum potential. "Our target is not a small target. Not just to enter Senayan. Entering Senayan, God willing, we will," Jokowi said, met with applause from the cadres. He added that if all cadres work hard, "all-out," he is confident that PSI will become a major party in Indonesia. During the event, Jokowi also touched upon PSI's new logo, which features an elephant. He considered Lampung the most appropriate place to introduce this new identity because of its strong association with elephants, which are one of the province's icons. "PSI's logo is an elephant. And it's most comfortable to introduce elephants in Lampung. Why did I come to Lampung? One of the reasons is the elephant," Jokowi said, eliciting laughter and applause from the cadres.
