Cambodia Launches Early Warning Project in Kratie and Ratanakiri Provinces

Phnom Penh, September 17, 2026 -- Mr. Prak Kimhong, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM), presided over and facilitated a two-day workshop from September 15-16, 2026, to launch the implementation of the 'Early Warning for All' project in Kratie and Ratanakiri provinces. Mr. Prak Kimhong stated that the workshop was organized with the aim of introducing the 'Early Warning for All' project to provincial, municipal, district, and commune/sangkat levels, which are the project's target areas. It also sought to foster a shared understanding of the project's objectives, key outcomes, planned activities, implementation mechanisms, and expected results. The workshop was supported by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) through the UNDP. Attendees included the Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Provincial Disaster Management Secretariat, representatives from the UNDP, the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, the Ministry of Environment, and officials from municipalities, districts, and communes/sanghats.
