Hanoi Aesthetic Clinic: Six Indicted for Unlicensed Operations and Fraud

Six employees at the Julia Aesthetic beauty clinic in Hanoi have been arrested and indicted on charges of fraud for allegedly providing medical services without proper qualifications and licenses. The case came to light following an investigation by the Internal Political Security Department of the Hanoi Police, which uncovered suspicious activities at the clinic. According to authorities, Julia Aesthetic is suspected of operating without a license and employing individuals lacking the necessary professional expertise and credentials to perform aesthetic services. A surprise inspection conducted by the Internal Political Security Department and the Hanoi Department of Health revealed six employees administering procedures such as anesthesia and liposuction to three clients at the time of the raid. Further investigation confirmed that these employees did not possess the required qualifications or practice certificates to act as doctors or technicians. Nevertheless, they allegedly posed as medical professionals to consult with and treat customers. Based on the collected evidence, authorities have initiated a criminal investigation into the case for "Fraudulent appropriation of property." On August 28, the Security Investigation Agency of the Hanoi Police decided to prosecute the criminal case under Article 174 of the Penal Code for "Fraudulent appropriation of property." Simultaneously, all six indicted suspects were subject to detention and preventive measures related to the charge of fraud. To facilitate the investigation and protect the legitimate rights and interests of the public, the Security Investigation Agency urges individuals who have received services at the Julia Aesthetic beauty clinic, located at 116 Ho Den Lu Street, Tuong Mai Ward, Hanoi, to contact their office at 58 Vu Trong Phung Street, Hanoi, to report their experiences and provide information. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding the unregulated growth of the beauty and cosmetic surgery sector in Vietnam, fueled by rapid economic development. Authorities are intensifying efforts to curb unlicensed practices and protect consumers from fraudulent operations.
