Cambodia and Vietnam Enhance Young Officer Exchange

The Cambodian Special Military Zone on July 23, 2026, warmly welcomed a delegation of young officers from the Vietnam People's Army at the Special Military Zone Command. The delegation was led by Colonel Nguyen Quang Huy, Head of the Youth Department of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army. Major General Mom Sopheap, Acting Commander of the Special Military Zone, stated that this visit would further strengthen military cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam, as well as promote the exchange of experiences among young officers from both countries. This served as an opportunity to reaffirm the long-standing close relationship and the importance of cooperation in the security sector between the two nations. In response, Colonel Nguyen Quang Huy expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome extended by the Commander, Deputy Commanders, and all officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers of the Special Military Zone. Colonel Nguyen Quang Huy also expressed satisfaction with the good relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam. During the occasion, the delegation also visited the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Museum. This exchange is seen as part of the ongoing efforts by both countries to contribute to regional stability and security within ASEAN. In particular, deepening direct dialogue and mutual understanding among young officers is crucial for strengthening the foundation of future bilateral relations. Cambodia and Vietnam share deep geographical and historical ties, and cooperation in the security sector is considered beneficial to the national interests of both countries.
