The provincial governor has instructed relevant authorities to conduct continuous investigations and administrative measures in suspicious locations, urging swift crackdowns as part of the province's cybercrime prevention efforts.
Banteay Meanchey Province in northwestern Cambodia has formulated an additional strategic plan to eradicate online scams. Governor Um Ratry has instructed relevant authorities to conduct continuous investigations and administrative measures in suspicious locations within the province's jurisdiction, aiming for the swift apprehension of all forms of online fraud. Governor Um Ratry announced this additional plan during a meeting with officials from all nine districts of Banteay Meanchey and relevant law enforcement agencies at the provincial hall on August 3, 2026. He emphasized that despite the authorities' continuous crackdowns, arrests of perpetrators, and their repatriation to their home countries, efforts must not be relaxed. He called for continued joint efforts to completely eradicate this type of scam from Banteay Meanchey Province.
