Vietnam Braces for Heavy Rain on School Opening Day

Vietnam is experiencing a mixed weather pattern on September 5th, the start of the new academic year. Furthermore, areas from the southern part of Quang Tri Province to Da Nang City, and the eastern parts of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, are expected to experience showers and isolated thunderstorms, with rainfall between 15 and 30mm. Some locations may receive over 80mm of rain. The risk of whirlwinds, lightning, hail, and strong gusts is present during these thunderstorms. Localized heavy rainfall carries the potential to cause flash floods in small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes, and inundation in low-lying areas. Other regions are expected to have sunny days with thunderstorms developing in the afternoon and evening. In Hanoi, the capital city, cloudy skies are predicted, with sunshine and potential for heatwaves in some spots. The lowest temperature will be between 26-28°C, and the highest between 34-36°C. The Northwest and Northeast regions of Northern Vietnam will also experience cloudy skies, sunny days, and heatwaves in some areas. Temperatures will range from 22-25°C (lowest) to 32-35°C (highest) in the Northwest, and 24-27°C (lowest) to 32-35°C (highest) in the Northeast. Provinces from Thanh Hoa to Hue will have varying conditions. The northern part will be sunny with heatwaves, while the southern part will see showers and potentially heavy rain in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will range from 25-28°C (lowest) to 32-35°C (highest). The South Central Coast will experience occasional showers and thunderstorms, with some areas receiving heavy rain in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be between 25-28°C (lowest) and 31-34°C (highest). The Central Highlands will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms, and some areas may see heavy rain in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be cooler, ranging from 20-23°C (lowest) to 25-28°C (highest). Southern Vietnam as a whole will see scattered showers and thunderstorms, with potential for heavy rain in the afternoon and evening. Ho Chi Minh City is expected to experience similar weather, with temperatures ranging from 25-28°C (lowest) to 31-34°C (highest). Looking ahead to the week, rainfall is expected to decrease nationwide. While heavy rain may persist in the North and South during the early days of the week, it will gradually subside.
