Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has urged Indian businesses to actively invest in Vietnam's clean energy and infrastructure sectors, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation in areas that can become new growth drivers for both economies. Vietnam and India are among the world's fastest-growing economies, possessing highly complementary strengths and substantial untapped potential for cooperation. Ambassador Trinh Minh Manh highlighted that there is huge room for the two sides to form new growth drivers in science-technology, innovation, digital transformation, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, critical minerals, and energy, areas that match Vietnam’s development needs and India’s growing strengths. The two countries expressed their determination to step up measures to achieve the target of US$25 billion in bilateral trade at an early date and facilitate market access for products from both countries, particularly pharmaceuticals, agricultural products, fisheries, and livestock products. Vietnam could deepen cooperation with BRICS through four main areas: expanding trade and market access; attracting and promoting two-way investment; engaging deeper in global supply chains and logistics networks; and advancing cooperation in science-technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Domestically, Quang Nam province is preparing an investment proposal for upgrading and expanding the Con Co storm shelter in the Con Co special zone. The project has a total investment of VND400 billion (US$15.4 million) and is scheduled for implementation from 2026 to 2028, aiming to enhance resilience against climate change and ensure the stability of local life. In Dien Bien province, an AFD-funded project aims to improve the management and efficient use of water resources and strengthen water regulation between river basins, helping to secure water supplies for production and daily life while improving resilience to drought, erosion, flooding, and climate change. Major export products include rattan and bamboo products, sedge and wickerware, fine wooden furniture and handicrafts, ceramics, lacquerware, and textiles. Many craft village products feature diverse designs and good quality, gradually enhancing their competitiveness in both domestic and international markets. Honda Vietnam sold 862,105 motorcycles in the first five months of its 2026-2027 fiscal year, a slight decrease of 0.2% from the same period last year. Meanwhile, imports of meat and meat products reached over US$1.918 billion during the January–August period, up 26.3% year-on-year, while fishery imports stood at US$2.13 billion, down slightly by 1%.
