Cambodia Hosts International Education Fair to Expand Overseas Study Opportunities for Youth
The BELTEI International University in Cambodia hosted the 9th Belti International Cooperation Conference (BICC) Education Fair, gathering prestigious universities from 17 countries. The event aimed to expand overseas study and scholarship opportunities for Cambodian youth, fostering international cooperation and human capital development.
The BELTEI International University organized the 9th Belti International Cooperation Conference (BICC) Education Fair and the 3rd Research Forum from July 6-7, 2026. The events focused on "Scholarship Opportunities and Preparation for Overseas Study Life" and "Digital Transformation in Education," respectively. Presided over by Mr. Ly Chheng, Member of Parliament for Phnom Penh Constituency and Founder-Director of BELTEI Group, the conference saw participation from 40 universities and institutions from 17 countries, including Cambodia, Australia, Canada, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Switzerland, the United States, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Poland, South Korea, Vietnam, China, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Indonesia. Over 5,000 students, including BELTEI students and their guardians, attended. Mr. Ly Navuth, President of BELTEI International University, stated that the education fair and research forum were established to strengthen cooperation and research with overseas partner universities, aiming to contribute to improving the quality of education in Cambodia. Key objectives include promoting Cambodian culture, educational advancements, and economic development globally; enhancing partnerships with public and private educational institutions; introducing renowned international institutions to Cambodian students, especially those from BELTEI; and creating a platform to boost the number of Cambodian students studying abroad. Furthermore, in collaboration with Monash University, Australia, BELTEI International University will launch a Foundation Year program at its headquarters in early October 2026. Students will complete one year at MONASH–BELTEI IU Cambodia and can then transfer to Monash University in Australia for a further three years. Dr. Yan Suhong, Head of the Academic Affairs Office at the University of Information Technology and Management from Poland, expressed delight and admiration for the international conference, noting that BICC provides a valuable opportunity for universities worldwide to connect directly with Cambodian students, share study information, scholarship opportunities, and introduce Khmer culture and Cambodia's rapid development. Koung Sunhuor, a former BELTEI International University student, shared that through participation in the BICC Education Fair, he received a scholarship from tycoon Ly Chheng to study at the East Asia Institute of Management in Singapore. Mr. Ly Chheng highlighted Cambodia's peace, political stability, and comprehensive development, particularly in education and the economy, underscoring the nation's international standing under the leadership of the seventh mandate government, led by Prime Minister Hun Manet. He reiterated the government's vision for Cambodia to become a high-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050. He emphasized the value of peace and the government's commitment to resolving border disputes with neighboring countries peacefully, in accordance with international law and existing bilateral agreements, adhering to the principle that borders should not be changed by force. Dr. Ly Chheng thanked the 40 participating educational institutions for their valuable time and presentations, stating that the BICC conference would significantly contribute to developing a skilled human capital in Cambodia in the digital era, aligning with the government's Pentagonal Strategy which prioritizes five key sectors: human, water, electricity, and technology. He encouraged all partner universities to continue participating in the upcoming BICC 10th edition and the 4th Research Forum in 2027 to collectively enhance national and international educational quality and further strengthen cooperation.
