Cambodian Information Minister Affirms Strengthened Cooperation with Vietnam News Agency

Minister of Information of Cambodia, Net Pheaktra, has lauded the role of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) in contributing to the dissemination of information about Cambodia and in strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two countries with professionalism, accuracy, and a high sense of responsibility. This statement was made during a working meeting on August 4, 2026, at the Ministry of Information, with Mr. Huynh Van Thao, who concluded his mission as the Representative of the VNA's Representative Office in Cambodia, and Mr. Do Huy Binh, who has been appointed as the new head of the VNA's Representative Office in Cambodia for the new term. Minister Net Pheaktra highlighted that the Ministry of Information of Cambodia and VNA have maintained close relations and cooperation for a long time, through information exchange, professional experience sharing, human resource training, and mutual support in the media sector. He expressed his expectation that both sides will continue to deepen their cooperation in line with the development of digital technology and the rapid changes in the media landscape. Concurrently, the Minister also emphasized the importance of disseminating accurate, rapid, and responsible information to meet the public's needs and to combat fake news, which is becoming a major challenge in the digital age. He also noted that during the official visit of Prime Minister Hun Manet to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Ministry of Information of Cambodia and the Vietnamese Ministry of Tourism (which oversees the media sector) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on media cooperation. This cooperation has begun to yield tangible results through the organization of human resource training programs and professional experience exchanges between the two parties. In response, Mr. Do Huy Binh expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome from the Minister and affirmed his commitment to further strengthening cooperation with the Ministry of Information of Cambodia. He further stated that the Vietnam News Agency will continue to disseminate information about Cambodia's development, its achievements, and the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam to a wider Vietnamese and international audience. The head of the VNA Representative Office in Cambodia informed that, on average, the VNA office in Cambodia produces and disseminates about 100 articles related to Cambodia per month. Additionally, VNA in Vietnam publishes news in multiple languages, including English, French, Russian, Spanish, and Chinese. For Khmer language news, VNA utilizes information from the Cambodian News Agency (AKP) and other official Cambodian news sources, including Khmer Times. On this occasion, Minister Net Pheaktra praised VNA for its dedication to disseminating information about Cambodia, averaging about 100 articles per month, focusing on politics, economy, society, culture, and national development. He noted that VNA's dissemination of information has contributed to a clearer understanding between the peoples of the two countries regarding each other's political, economic, social, and cultural developments. Specifically, Vietnamese people have also received information about the situation in Cambodia, including issues related to the Cambodian-Thai border. The Minister further informed that the Ministry of Information has state media outlets, including Cambodian National Television (TVK), National Radio of Cambodia (RNK), the Cambodian News Agency (AKP), and a mobile application (App), which serve as official sources of information for the government. He affirmed that these media outlets play a crucial role in providing accurate, timely, and comprehensive information to the public, thereby ensuring the right to information and enabling citizens to make decisions based on reliable information. The Minister added that state media also act as a bridge connecting the government and the people, conveying government policies and information to the public, and bringing public opinions and requests back to the government, thereby contributing to the promotion of good governance and sustainable national development.
