AI Summary

VinFast has dispatched its 38th export shipment carrying over 5,000 electric vehicles (EVs) destined for European and Asian markets, marking a significant step in its global expansion and the growth of its Green SM taxi service.

Vietnamese automaker VinFast has shipped its 38th export batch, comprising over 5,000 electric vehicles (EVs), destined for European and Asian markets. The shipment departed on July 20-21. The two international cargo vessels, Sea Patris and Silver Queen, are specialized RORO (Roll-on/Roll-off) ships designed for automotive transport and docked at the MPC port in Hai Phong. The Sea Patris, a Luxembourg-flagged vessel, is carrying approximately 1,500 units of the VinFast VF 6 model. These vehicles are specifically produced for GSM (Green SM), VinFast's electric taxi partner, to support its expansion plans in European markets. This marks the second dedicated VinFast export vessel, featuring a distinctive red and white livery with VinFast branding. After leaving Hai Phong, the ship is scheduled to stop at Nansha Port in China before arriving at Koper Port in Slovenia by the end of August. From Slovenia, the VinFast cars will be distributed to GSM's target markets, advancing the expansion of the Vietnamese pure-electric ride-hailing platform in Europe. Meanwhile, the Silver Queen, a Panama-flagged vessel, loaded over 3,500 VinFast vehicles of various models for delivery to the Philippines and Indonesia. VinFast stated that this ship is on a long-term charter and shares a similar custom livery and branding as the Sea Patris. According to the company, since its first voyage in late 2022, the Silver Queen has transported 20 batches of VinFast vehicles, totaling tens of thousands of units, to markets including the US, Canada, the Philippines, and Indonesia. In addition to this, VinFast has chartered 16 other RORO vessels for its EV exports. Industry experts view VinFast's chartering of specialized international transport ships as a testament to the company's and GSM's global growth. VinFast currently has a presence in over 10 international markets, including the US, Canada, Europe, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and the Middle East. Green SM has also expanded its operations to Laos, the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Kazakhstan, with further plans for several European countries. Source: VnExpress
