North Sumatra Governor Backs Prabowo's Order to Scrutinize Free Nutritious Meal Program Infiltrators
North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution affirmed the regional government's readiness to oversee the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program, supporting President Prabowo Subianto's directive to monitor for infiltrators. Nasution stated the presidential intent is to improve children's nutrition and that oversight is natural.
North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution affirmed the regional government's readiness to oversee the operationalization of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) as part of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. He stated that President Prabowo Subianto's intention in highlighting the alleged infiltration of infiltrators into the MBG program was to ensure its smooth implementation and improve children's nutrition. "The president wants this program to run well, why? Because the goal is how to fulfill the nutritional needs of school children. If their nutrition is met, their reasoning and knowledge in school will surely be better," Nasution said on Wednesday (15/7). According to Nasution, oversight is necessary to ensure that the main objective of MBG, which is to improve the nutritional quality of school children, can be achieved without being hampered by various deviations in the field. "So that goal is not achieved because there are disruptions, such as the implementation at the SPPG deviating," he explained. Nasution considers it natural for local governments to be involved in the supervision of SPPG. This is because if deviations occur in its implementation, the benefits of the program, which is intended for the younger generation, may not be optimal. "Yes, it is very natural for us, the local government, to be asked by the president to supervise, as conveyed, if the SPPG is 'naughty', we are allowed to warn, correct, and even if a school requests a menu, it is usually given. So, I think that is very good," he explained. Regarding SPPGs suspected of committing deviations, Nasution stated that the government continuously monitors the progress of data and reports from various regions. He mentioned that before the school holiday period, several SPPGs were identified as having encountered problems in program implementation. These issues were not only related to the food served but also to waste management. "For SPPGs that commit deviations, the data is continuously updated, right? As far as I know, the data that reached me before the school holiday was that there were indeed SPPGs that had slight problems, not only food but also waste and various other matters," he elaborated. The North Sumatra Provincial Government, he continued, has conveyed these findings to the heads of the relevant regencies and cities, and has also coordinated directly with SPPG managers to make improvements. President Prabowo Subianto had previously asked all regional heads and apparatuses to monitor SPPG operations, citing allegations of many individuals attempting to misuse the MBG program. "MBG will continue! But we understand and we realize that many are also infiltrating the body of MBG to become thieves there," Prabowo said on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Meninting Dam and 4 other dams in West Lombok, NTB, on Friday (10/7). Prabowo urged governors, regents, sub-district heads, and village heads to inspect all MBG kitchens. He asked all parties to report any misuse immediately. "So I ask governors, regents, sub-district heads, village heads, you can inspect all MBG kitchens. You inspect. Report to the Head of BGN. If necessary, report to me. It's easy. Report on TikTok. I will immediately send a team to resolve it. No need to bother," he said. Source: CNN Indonesia
