Cambodia Red Cross Concludes First Aid Instructor Training to Mark World First Aid Day

The Cambodian Red Cross held a closing ceremony for its first aid instructor training course at its headquarters in Phnom Penh on September 10, 2026. The event commemorated World First Aid Day, observed annually on September 12, under the theme "Invest in Peace and First Aid for All, Everywhere, Anytime." Presided over by Secretary General H.E. Pum Chantynee, the ceremony saw the participation of instructor candidates from all 25 provincial and municipal branches of the Cambodian Red Cross, as well as representatives from relevant institutions. H.E. Pum Chantynee expressed her delight and commendation for the participants' dedication and success in completing the training. She emphasized that first aid is not merely a technical skill but the "heart and spirit of humanitarianism," serving as the initial hope to save lives of victims before professional medical help arrives. To ensure the effective application and widespread dissemination of the acquired knowledge, the Secretary General provided five key recommendations to the trainees: 1. Strengthen Skill Proficiency and Practice: Continuously review and practice learned techniques to make them habitual, ensuring prompt and accurate responses in emergency situations. 2. Share and Expand Knowledge: Utilize all experiences to train officers, staff, volunteers, and local citizens, thereby creating more "first responders" within communities. 3. Adhere to the 7 Fundamental Principles: Consistently uphold the movement's principles, especially impartiality and neutrality without discrimination, in fulfilling humanitarian duties. 4. Preparation and Role Modeling: Serve as a role model in the community for safety practices and be constantly prepared to respond to accidents or disasters. 5. Develop Action Plans and Outreach Campaigns: Formulate clear action plans for World First Aid Day, themed "Invest in Peace and First Aid for All, Everywhere, Anytime," through direct outreach and social media. The training is expected to significantly contribute to enhancing first aid capabilities and promoting the spirit of humanitarian aid throughout Cambodia.
