Cambodian Ministry of Education Urges Parents to Prioritize Children's Education
Cambodia's Ministry of Education has called on parents to prioritize their children's education, labeling it the "most important family investment" for a better future. The appeal was made by a senior ministry official at the inauguration of a new international school in Phnom Penh, aligning with the government's goal of developing skilled human resources for national progress.
Peng Kimcheng, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, stated that providing education for children is the "most important investment" for every family. He urged parents to pay the utmost attention to ensuring their children receive quality education, emphasizing that it is the only path to a brighter future for them. Speaking at the official inauguration of the Welis International School (WELIS) in Phnom Penh on September 9th, the Undersecretary of State highlighted the nation's critical need for human resources possessing knowledge and expertise for national development. He stressed that this requires establishing educational platforms like schools and for parents and guardians to ensure their children attend, thereby fostering quality learning. The government, with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport as its lead agency, is prioritizing educational quality in both public and private schools, aiming to cultivate usable human capital. On behalf of Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, the Undersecretary of State welcomed the launch of WELIS as an additional platform for building knowledge for the nation's youth, who are its future "bamboo shoots." Mr. Seng Vannarith, Founder and CEO of VRith Group, stated that WELIS, a subsidiary of VRith Group, is a symbol with profound meaning in Cambodia's educational sector. He affirmed the institution's strong commitment to its vision of becoming a leading international school, highly trusted for nurturing students into true human capital.
