Cambodia Charity Run Draws 2,500 to Support Border Children's Education

AKP Phnom Penh, July 13, 2026 — Some 2,500 runners took part in a charity run Sunday in Phnom Penh, raising funds for children in Cambodian-Thai border areas whose education has been disrupted by past Thai incursions. Organised by the Education Services Federation of Cambodia (ESFC) with backing from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, the "Run for Border Children's Education" was held at the Chip Mong Land 271 project site and sponsored by local conglomerate Chip Mong Group. All proceeds will go to the education ministry to ensure underprivileged border-region children stay in school and become vital human resources for national development, organisers said. Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron called the event more than a fundraiser: "It inspires patriotism, solidarity, and national unity through sports." He urged citizens to stay healthy and unite for Cambodia's next generation. The Minister also thanked Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet for their leadership in safeguarding sovereignty, ensuring peace, and supporting citizens and military personnel along the borders.
