Vietnam Embassy in Pakistan Celebrates National Day, Reinforces Bilateral Ties

On the evening of September 4 (local time), in the capital Islamabad, the Vietnamese Embassy in Pakistan solemnly organized a ceremony to celebrate the 81st anniversary of Vietnam's National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2026). The ceremony was presided over by Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan. Attendees included Member of Parliament Maulana Nasim Ali Shah, Director General of the East Asia-Pacific Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, representatives from various Pakistani ministries and sectors, Ambassadors and Chargé d'Affaires of ASEAN countries, China, Japan, Cuba, North Korea, and Poland, along with many representatives from the diplomatic corps, friends of Vietnam, and the Vietnamese community in Islamabad. Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Pakistan Pham Anh Tuan emphasized the profound significance of Vietnam's National Day on September 2 and reviewed the country's outstanding development achievements over the past 81 years. Notably, Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan highlighted the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which set forth strategies and a roadmap for Vietnam to successfully achieve its goals of becoming a developing country with modern industry and high middle income by 2030, and a developed, high-income country by 2045. Expressing delight at the strong development of bilateral relations between Vietnam and Pakistan over the past more than 50 years, Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan stated that the remarkable achievements in economic and cultural fields have laid a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the Vietnam-Pakistan relationship. He affirmed that Vietnam always values and wishes to further deepen the relationship between the two countries for the common benefit of the two peoples, and for peace and development in the region. On behalf of the attendees, Member of Parliament Maulana Nasim Ali Shah conveyed congratulations to the Government and people of Vietnam and all staff of the Vietnamese Embassy on the occasion of the National Day. He expressed admiration for Vietnam's outstanding development achievements in many fields, attributing these great accomplishments to the strategic vision of Vietnamese leadership. He noted Vietnam's economic transition from a purely agricultural production model to high-tech agriculture, creating favorable conditions to attract foreign investors for national development and global economic integration. 'Pakistan does not necessarily need to copy Vietnam's development model, but needs to continue learning and selectively absorb valuable lessons from Vietnam's economic transition process,' shared MP Maulana Nasim Ali Shah. Earlier, on September 2, on his official X account, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari posted congratulatory remarks to General Secretary and President To Lam, the Government, and the people of Vietnam on the occasion of the 81st National Day. In his message, President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized that since gaining independence in 1945, Vietnam has overcome many challenges and achieved remarkable progress in political, economic, and social fields. He affirmed that Pakistan always values its good friendship with Vietnam and is committed to continuing to enhance bilateral cooperation to maximize potential for the common benefit of both nations. Expressing pleasure that the two countries are heading towards celebrating the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027, President Asif Ali Zardari also cordially invited General Secretary and President To Lam to visit Pakistan to commemorate this important historical milestone and strengthen friendship between the two countries. During the ceremony, in a warm and friendly atmosphere, the Embassy also arranged a space to display and introduce Vietnamese culture and cuisine. On this occasion, Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan responded to several Pakistani news agencies regarding Vietnam's outstanding achievements over the past eight decades and the prospects for bilateral relations between the two countries.
