NBI Forms 'Task Force Cash Cow' to Investigate 2019 SEA Games Hosting Anomalies

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has established a "Task Force Cash Cow" to investigate alleged anomalies in the country's hosting of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games). In an ambush interview, NBI Director Melvin Matibag said on Tuesday that the task force will be composed of the Office of the Director, Public Corruption Division, Special Action Unit, and field officers. "We will be writing COA, SEC, and BIR to check on the documentation," he said. Matibag stated that P6.7 billion in government funds went to the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC). He added that subpoenas have also been issued to seven individuals. Matibag said some will appear on Monday and Wednesday.
