Vietnam Boosts International Cooperation to Combat Domestic Violence

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in partnership with UNFPA and KOICA, launched a new project on November 25 to strengthen Vietnam’s capacity to prevent and respond to domestic violence. The Vietnamese Party and Government and society are working to curb domestic violence as it causes significant physical and psychological harm to those who experience it, and affects the country’s socio-economic development and gender equality goals. Organisational restructuring presents an opportunity to review personnel standards, procedures and working methods. If gender considerations are integrated into the process, it can help remove long-standing barriers, make better use of female talent and build a fairer and more accountable working environment. According to Tay Ninh provincial police, under annual cooperation plans between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior, the police forces of the four provinces have maintained information exchanges and coordinated in preventing and combating crime and addressing issues arising along the border.
