Thai Businesses Invest Less in AI Than Global Average, SAP Report Shows

A recent survey by SAP has revealed that the average annual investment budget for Artificial Intelligence (AI) among Thai businesses stands at approximately 600 million baht. This figure is significantly lower than the global average of 922 million baht per year. The findings suggest that the adoption and utilization of AI technology within Thailand's business sector may be lagging behind global trends. AI is considered a crucial technology for establishing competitive advantages across various fields, including enhancing operational efficiency, improving data analysis capabilities, and creating new business models. In recent years, the Thai economy has aimed for growth through digital transformation and innovation, with AI being one of the core technologies. However, this survey result highlights the current situation where, particularly among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the necessary capital and expertise for AI adoption, or an understanding of its strategic value, may not yet be fully disseminated. SAP points out that strategic investment and talent development are essential for businesses to maximize the potential of AI. For Thai companies to maintain and improve their international competitiveness, it will be necessary to accelerate investment in AI.
