China Provides Vocational Skill Standards Book to Cambodia to Enhance TVET Quality
The Chinese government has donated the 'China's National Occupational Standard Package' to Cambodia. This initiative aims to support the strengthening of vocational skill standards and the enhancement of quality in Cambodia's Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector, symbolizing the friendly relations between the two countries.
The Chinese government, through the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China, has provided Cambodia with the book "China's National Occupational Standard Package." This initiative aims to support the strengthening of vocational skill standards and the development of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) systems in Cambodia, ensuring higher quality and alignment with labor market demands. The handover ceremony recently took place at the Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Center, presided over by H.E. Heng Sour, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, and H.E. Wang Wenbin, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Cambodia, symbolizing the strong friendship between Cambodia and China. The book meticulously details numerous occupations and their evaluation standards, categorized into different types and skill levels. It is considered highly significant in reinforcing national standards for the Cambodian labor market and serves as a new roadmap for in-depth reforms in vocational and technical education and training. The 16 included vocational skills encompass bricklaying, steel bar processing and assembly for construction, road construction, bridge and tunnel construction, milling machine parts processing, lathe machine parts processing, internet system installation, telecommunication cable network installation and maintenance, elevator and escalator installation and maintenance, refrigeration and air conditioning system installation and maintenance, household electronics maintenance, electrical and electronic system installation and maintenance, motorcycle maintenance and repair, automobile maintenance, solar energy system installation and maintenance, and domestic services (housekeeping). Receiving the "China's National Occupational Standard Package" not only strengthens the standards for vocational skill training in Cambodia but also forms a crucial foundation for developing curricula and training programs that meet the requirements of the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) industry. This will enable Cambodia to respond to industrial development needs and compete in the era of modern technology. Furthermore, as the electric vehicle (EV) market in Cambodia continues to grow, these standards will help prepare a workforce with sufficient skills, high quality, and the capability to maintain, repair, and service electric vehicles. This support is expected to foster the development of the EV market in Cambodia and enhance the competitiveness of the industrial sector in the long run. The "China's National Occupational Standard Package" was published by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China, with contributions from over 50 experts from Chinese state institutions.
