Myanmar President Visits Vietnam, Boosting Economic and Cultural Ties

The official visit to Vietnam by the President of Myanmar and his spouse, which began on September 4, is expected to significantly contribute to consolidating the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperative partnership between the two countries, strengthening political trust, and expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Vietnam consistently attaches importance to cooperation with Myanmar and supports its socio-economic development and national reconciliation. Myanmar, for its part, values Vietnam’s development achievements and prioritises strengthening the Comprehensive Cooperation Partnership, while facilitating Vietnamese businesses’ investment and operations in the country. Determined to give a strong boost to economic, trade and investment cooperation, the two sides agreed to convene the 11th meeting of the Joint Trade Sub-Committee soon to promptly address difficulties, discuss cooperation measures and work towards their target of increasing bilateral trade to US$1 billion. The visit is expected to open up opportunities to further strengthen the Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership, particularly in the economy, trade, investment, science – technology, connectivity, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, bringing tangible benefits to both peoples and expanding cooperation within both bilateral and multilateral frameworks. General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and President To Lam has affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to its relations with France, its first comprehensive strategic partner in the European Union. Cooperation between Vietnam and Russia also reflects the strong determination of the leaders and people of both countries to inherit and carry forward their traditional friendly cooperation and deepen their relationship. Vietnam is accelerating its green transition through renewable energy development, efficient energy use, greener production and supply chains, green transport, sustainable agriculture and a circular economy. In its relationship with the US, Vietnam hopes for contributions not only in investment but also in technology, management expertise, human resource training, and support for enhancing implementation capacity. On the occasion of Vietnam’s National Day, leaders from India, the Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Brunei, and Myanmar, along with the United Nations, sent congratulatory messages to Vietnamese Party and State leaders. The Prime Minister has required ministries, agencies, and localities to regularly review and update growth scenarios on a monthly and quarterly basis, proactively identify bottlenecks affecting growth targets, and promptly remove them. National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man’s official visit to the Republic of Korea from September 6–9 aims to advance bilateral relations from a strong political framework towards concrete, measurable outcomes that bring practical benefits to people and businesses in both countries. Cooperation between the Vietnamese and RoK National Assemblies plays a pivotal role in institutionalizing bilateral agreements and building a solid legal foundation for stable cooperation, said Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Cho Jeong-sik. National Assembly (NA) Vice President Nguyen Thi Thanh called on Japan to support Vietnam in removing legal bottlenecks related to technology transfer and intellectual property protection, and facilitate visas and welfare arrangements for experts, scientists, students, and skilled workers from both countries.
