Mondulkiri Province celebrated the National Environment Day and World Environment Day on June 29, 2026, under the theme "Zero Waste." The event was held at the Independence Monument Square in Sen Monorom city and presided over by the Chairman of the Provincial Council, the Deputy Governor, and the Director of the Provincial Department of Environment. The ceremony was attended by leaders, civil servants, security forces, students, and a large number of citizens. Deputy Governor Ngin Suviman stated that maintaining environmental hygiene and proper waste management are crucial for promoting public health and protecting the ecosystem. He praised the participation of citizens and students in regular environmental cleanup activities, which have made their homes, schools, and public spaces cleaner. Furthermore, the Deputy Governor urged government institutions, the private sector, and all citizens to continue implementing the "Environmental Sector Strategy 2023-2028," which focuses on "cleanliness, greenness, and sustainability." Specifically, the province aims to achieve "Zero Waste" by implementing the "4Rs" principle, which includes refusing single-use plastics, reducing the use of unnecessary items, reusing, and separating waste for recycling.
