Myanmar-China to Cooperate in Tourism Sector

It is understood from the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism under the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism that Myanmar and China's Yunnan Province will cooperate to develop the tourism sector between the two countries. A China-Myanmar Tourism Development Meeting and a Yunnan Provincial Culture and Tourism Introduction Event were held on September 22nd at the Yangon Chinese Cultural Center in Yangon, with the aim of promoting tourism business between the two countries. Director General U Aung Aye Han of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism stated that this meeting is believed to be beneficial for mutual visits between the two countries, and that tourism promotion will be carried out jointly by both nations. He also mentioned that there are plans to further expand tourism promotion efforts to attract more Chinese tourists to Myanmar. Mr. Han Jiajuin, the representative of the Yangon Chinese Cultural Center, said that the event was organized based on the upcoming Chinese traditional Moon Festival and China's National Day, to facilitate mutual discussions and exchanges on tourism between Myanmar and China. During the meeting, introductions were made regarding cities in Yunnan Province that can be visited in spring, summer, and winter, as well as Myanmar's prominent tourist destinations. Li Fuquan, Chairman of the China-Myanmar Economic Cooperation and Development Promotion Association, stated that the meeting aims to establish a tourism cooperation platform between Myanmar and China and to introduce Myanmar's tourism sector to the Chinese market. The China-Myanmar Tourism Development Meeting was jointly organized by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Yangon Chinese Cultural Center. The meeting also featured displays of Moon Festival foods, traditional Yunnan cuisine, and tea culture. During the meeting, traditional Chinese songs and dances were performed, and traditional handicrafts from ethnic groups in Yunnan Province, bamboo tea-making techniques, and ceramic works were also exhibited.
