Vietnam Boosts Digitalization for Trade Facilitation, International Cooperation

Vietnam is focusing on promoting digitalization and reducing procedural barriers to facilitate international trade. As part of this effort, a seminar was held on the theme "Enhancing international trade facilitation in practice: Digitalization and the reduction of procedural trade barriers." This seminar provided lecturers and students from the Foreign Trade University (FTU) with a deeper understanding of the World Trade Organization's (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) and practical issues arising during its implementation. The Vietnamese government has established a dedicated delegation for international economic and trade negotiations. This is a strategic move to further boost the country's rapidly expanding trade and enhance its competitiveness in the international market. Vietnam's total trade value has already surpassed $825 billion, and policy support is being strengthened to maintain and accelerate this momentum. Experts have also pointed out that upgrading logistics infrastructure is vital to achieving the target of $1 trillion in trade. The promotion of digitalization is expected to contribute to faster customs clearance, more efficient supply chains, and stronger collaboration with international suppliers and customers. Under Vietnam's one-party system, the government's push for digitalization as a national strategy is positioned as one of the key pillars of economic growth. Especially amidst complex relations with China, where diversifying trade partners and strengthening supply chain resilience are crucial, trade facilitation is an indispensable element for the stability and development of the national economy.
