A bus carrying dozens of passengers collided with a truck on National Highway 1 in Xuan Dai ward, Phu Yen province, central Vietnam, on the night of July 30, leaving four people injured. The incident occurred around 7:30 PM, when Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan, 53, driving a bus from Quang Ngai, was traveling on National Highway 1 towards Ho Chi Minh City. Near a residential area in Ganh Do, Xuan Dai ward, the bus crashed into a truck loaded with construction materials that was crossing the road. The powerful collision caused the front of the bus to be crushed and deformed, with the windshield and windows shattering. The truck overturned and was thrown more than 5 meters from its original position. Dust from the construction materials billowed into the air, and the scene was dark as streetlights were not functioning at the time. Many passengers were panicked and called for help. Over 20 residents living nearby brought tools and assisted in pulling most of the victims out of the vehicle within five minutes. According to Mr. Vo Ngoc Thach, Chairman of the Xuan Dai Ward People's Committee, four people on the bus were injured. Among them, driver Tuan and a co-driver suffered severe injuries, including broken legs, and were trapped in the cabin, requiring a significant amount of time for rescue forces to free them. Another co-driver from the bus sustained minor injuries, and the remaining injured victim was a female passenger whose identity has not yet been confirmed. The truck driver sustained minor abrasions. The injured individuals were taken to the Song Cau Medical Center, located more than 10 kilometers from the accident scene. Functional forces are investigating the cause of the accident. By Bui Toan
