Rains to persist in Southern Luzon, Visayas; fair weather in NCR Sunday

The southwest monsoon, locally known as "habagat," will continue to affect Southern Luzon and the Visayas, while Metro Manila can expect generally fair weather with occasional rains on Sunday, Sept. 20, the state weather bureau said. Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Daniel Villamil said in its 5 p.m. weather bulletin that the habagat is bringing moist winds to these areas, causing cloud formation and precipitation. Southern Luzon comprises regions such as Calabarzon, MIMAROPA, and parts of Central Luzon. The Visayas is an island group in the central Philippines.
