On August 7, 2023, Sergeant Cao Tuấn Anh, a soldier from the 2nd Platoon, 17th Engineering Company, under the Hai Phong City Military Command's Staff Department, tragically died while on duty. During the mission, Sergeant Anh bravely rescued a comrade from a dangerous area, sacrificing his own life in the process. The 3rd Military Region (Quân khu 3) announced this tragic news on August 8.
