MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. remembered his late father and namesake, former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., on his birthday on Friday. Marcos Sr. would be 109 years old if he were alive today, having been born on Sept. 11, 1917. READ: Sept. 11 a holiday in Ilocos Norte for Marcos Sr.’s birth anniversary “Remembering my father on his birthday,” he said in a social media post. “My father from whom I learnt the most important lessons of life,” the President also said. Marcos Jr. said his father taught him to value duty, honor, and country. “To live for others and not oneself. Happy Birthday Dad,” he said. Marcos Jr. has declared Sept. 11 a special non-working holiday in Ilocos Norte to commemorate the 109th birth anniversary of his late father and namesake, former President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. He is expected to lead the activities in celebration of his father’s birth anniversary in Marcos Sr.’s hometown in the province. /jpv
