Ho Chi Minh City to Repurpose Surplus Properties for Healthcare Facilities

Ho Chi Minh City is implementing a policy to prioritize the use of surplus real estate and land for medical facilities. This initiative aims to promptly address the urgent medical needs of citizens while also establishing a healthcare system from a long-term perspective. This effort embodies an innovative and people-centered approach to healthcare policy, expected to contribute to the health promotion of the populace. Community cooperation is also being called for, particularly in preventing the spread of infectious diseases like dengue fever. The city has put forth a strategy to maximize the repurposing of surplus properties into medical facilities, with the goal of completing this process by the second quarter of 2026. Furthermore, commendations are being given to districts that have taken the lead in conducting health check-ups for residents, aiming to raise public health awareness. Under Vietnam's one-party system, the government tends to lead social infrastructure development, and the healthcare sector is no exception. To cope with the increasing demand for medical services due to urbanization and population concentration accompanying economic growth, such efficient real estate utilization measures are becoming increasingly important.
