Cambodian Health Minister Stresses 'Governance and Leadership' for Organizational Advancement

Dr. Chheang Ra, Minister of Health, stated during the July leadership meeting that organizational advancement must focus on governance and leadership. The minister urged the promotion of daily work and the updating of tasks according to the situation to review progress and reflect on areas of good implementation, areas needing improvement, and work delays, in order to find timely solutions. He highlighted the importance of not hesitating in leadership, especially within organizations, by cultivating a spirit of competing with oneself through responsibility and efficient implementation. The minister also placed significant emphasis on the issue of dengue fever during the rainy season, calling for cooperation at all levels among leaders, the National Center, health departments, and local authorities to implement regular health education for citizens, prevent dengue fever, and ensure timely access to the nearest healthcare services in cases of suspected dengue fever. Furthermore, all health departments must improve the provision of healthcare services, ensure sufficient treatment techniques and medicine, and encourage experts to investigate high-risk areas for assessment and management. Additionally, high vigilance must be maintained regarding public health and various infectious diseases that may pose risks from different countries at any time. The July leadership meeting was held on July 20, 2026, at the Ministry of Health headquarters to review progress, promote work, and set future directions. Attendees included leaders from the ministry and central agencies, the Phnom Penh Municipal Health Department, and provincial health department directors via Zoom.
