Poipet Province Launches Tree Planting Campaign to Restore Tonle Sap Ecosystem

On the morning of September 19, 2026, Pursat Province, in collaboration with the government's working group, organized a tree planting campaign in the flooded forest area (Zone 3) of Krong District, planting over 1,000 saplings. This initiative aims to contribute to the protection and restoration of natural resources around Tonle Sap Lake. The ceremony was presided over by HE Khoy Rida, Governor of Pursat Province and Chairman of the Provincial Party Committee, and HE Dr. Prang Cholsa, Delegate of the Royal Government in charge of Director General of Electricity of Cambodia and Head of the Royal Government Working Group for Krong District and Kandieng District. Also in attendance were Mr. Eng Kuntha, Deputy Director General of Electricity of Cambodia and Head of the Royal Government Working Group for Ansam Chek Commune and Sre Sthok Commune, along with numerous officials and collaborators. HE Khoy Rida expressed his profound gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Eng Kuntha, Head of the Royal Government Working Group for Ansam Chek Commune, for his diligent efforts in promoting development in all sectors within the commune, and for actively mobilizing tree planting along all roads and public areas to create green cover and enhance the commune's beautiful and vibrant environment. HE informed that the tree planting campaign in the flooded forest area (Zone 3) is not only to replenish forest cover but is also a crucial responsibility to protect fish breeding grounds and sustain biodiversity around Tonle Sap Lake. HE the Governor emphatically stated the commitment to continue preventing and cracking down on all illegal logging and encroachment activities in the flooded forest areas, urging collective efforts to protect these natural assets for the benefit of future generations. HE Khoy Rida called upon local authorities, armed forces, and residents in the area to continue close cooperation with the Royal Government's working group to ensure the proper growth of the planted trees and to collectively protect the natural resources in the area for their perpetuity. This morning's campaign demonstrated the high sense of responsibility and continuous attention from the provincial leadership and the Royal Government's working group towards environmental conservation and green development in the Tonle Sap Lake region.
