Thai Festival Mexico 2026, held in Mexico City, drew a record-breaking 31,220 visitors, significantly boosting Thailand's soft power and strengthening ties with Mexico. The annual event, organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Mexico City, took place at the National Arts Center (CENART) on August 29–30, surpassing last year's attendance figures. The two-day festival showcased a wide array of Thai culture and entertainment, including exhibitions of traditional Thai dress and Phi Ta Khon (ghost festival), Muay Thai demonstrations, Thai tattoo and rock music sessions, tourism activities, Thai film screenings, and a Thai dress photo booth. A major highlight for young Mexican attendees was the second T-Pop Cover Dance competition, with Circus Showtime clinching the top prize. Thai artists such as Boy Sompop, JRbubblegum, DJ Sunkhan, Ice Amena, Ize & Marissa, and Mcka also performed mini-concerts for their fans. Thai food and products were also a significant draw, with eight Thai restaurants from across Mexico participating. Fusion dishes like "Thai Tacos" and Thai tea emerged as best-selling items. Additionally, 21 Thai businesses presented products including inhalers, canned coconut milk, cooking ingredients, sauces, and rice. For the first time, Thai betta fish and goldfish, which have received official import approval for Mexico, were featured. More than 4,000 fish were ordered during the festival. The record turnout underscores the growing interest in T-Pop and Thai content among Mexicans, creating new opportunities for Thai tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between the two nations.
