Cambodia Forecasts Thunderstorms, Gusty Winds Over Weekend, Coastal Areas Most Affected

The Ministry of Water Resources has forecast thunderstorms and gusty winds across Cambodia from July 27th to 29th, 2026. This weather pattern is attributed to the influence of the southwest monsoon affecting the Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, South China Sea, Mekong River basin, Cambodian Sea, and the Kingdom of Cambodia. However, Cambodia itself is not directly in the path of Tropical Storm Noul. The forecast by region is as follows: In lowland areas, temperatures will range from a minimum of 24°C to a maximum of 36°C, with winds from the southwest and northwest blowing at an average speed of 3 meters per second. Provinces such as Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Poipet, Kampong Cham, and the capital Phnom Penh are expected to experience thunderstorms and gusty winds covering 30% of their areas. In highland areas, temperatures will range from a minimum of 23°C to a maximum of 35°C. Winds from the southwest and west will blow at an average speed of 4 meters per second. Areas including Kampong Speu, Pailin, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratie, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, the Dangrek Mountains, and the Cardamom Mountains are expected to see thunderstorms and gusty winds covering 40% of their areas. In coastal areas, temperatures will range from a minimum of 25°C to a maximum of 35°C. Winds from the southwest and southeast will blow at an average speed of 2 meters per second. Coastal provinces such as Koh Kong, Sihanoukville, Kampot, Kep, and the Bokor Mountain area are expected to experience thunderstorms and gusty winds covering 60% of their areas.
