Cambodia Revokes License of Online Media Outlet VOK TV Online

The Ministry of Information of Cambodia has decided to revoke the license of the online media outlet "VOK TV Online." According to a statement released by the ministry on August 20, this measure was taken following reports that the outlet engaged in activities that violated laws, license terms, and contractual agreements. The ministry had initially issued license number 164/2026/PRK on May 6, 2026, permitting Mr. Thun Sophon, a Cambodian national, to operate "VOK TV Online" through its website www.k-voktvonline.com.kh. The office of the outlet is situated in Tani Village, Krang Chek Commune, Udong District, Kampong Speu Province. However, based on a report from the General Directorate of Information and Audiovisual Media, this license has now been canceled. The Ministry of Information declared that any provisions contrary to this decision are null and void. This decision is interpreted as a reinforcement of oversight and regulation on media activities in Cambodia. The Ministry has instructed all relevant departments and personnel, including the Director of the Cabinet, the Secretary General of the General Secretariat, the Director General of the General Directorate of Information and Audiovisual Media, the heads of provincial information departments, the party concerned, and relevant authorities, to carry out their respective duties to implement this decision from the date of signing.
