Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, Hang Chuon Naron, on the morning of September 4, 2026, awarded honorary medals to education, youth, and sport officials in Kampong Cham province, highly commending their past achievements in the sector, especially the 85% pass rate and 100 students achieving 'A' grades in the 2026 high school examinations. Deputy Prime Minister Naron emphasized that regardless of the grades obtained, students must continue to strive and choose specializations that align with their passions and the demands of the labor market to ensure future success. He stated that excelling academically alone is insufficient; true passion for one's specialization and work, coupled with active participation from all stakeholders including local authorities, leaders, educators, teachers, and parents, is essential to guarantee sustainable educational quality. He highlighted the advancement of Cambodia's education sector, emphasizing the need for strengthening from early childhood education. The first 1000 days of a child's life are crucial for brain development, requiring high attention and good nutrition. For kindergarten education, the focus is not just on learning but also on fostering courage, self-reliance, emotional control, and problem-solving skills through play, laying a strong foundation for subsequent educational levels. Furthermore, he stressed the need to continue effectively implementing the "Early Reading" and "Early Mathematics" packages at the primary level to fully prepare students for secondary education, which will focus on modernization, adopting new teaching methodologies, and utilizing technology. On behalf of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, Deputy Prime Minister Naron warmly congratulated the education officials of Kampong Cham province for receiving the honorary medals. He noted that this distinguished honor is a recognition and encouragement from the government and the ministry for the dedicated efforts and high sense of responsibility shown by teachers in contributing to the progress, effectiveness, and sustainability of education, youth, and sports.
