Cambodia Joins International Forum to Enhance Media Cooperation and Information Diplomacy
A Cambodian delegation attended the 5th Yunnan International Communication Forum in China, aiming to strengthen information dissemination capabilities through digital technologies, collaborate on combating fake news, and promote Cambodia's national interests.
AKP Phnom Penh, July 17, 2026— At the invitation of the Chinese side, a Cambodian delegation attended the 5th Yunnan International Communication Forum, held on July 16 at the InterContinental Xishuangbanna Resort in Yunnan Province, southwest China. The forum brought together government representatives, media executives, journalists, researchers, tech experts, and international communication professionals. Participants exchanged views, shared experiences, and explored new initiatives aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of international communication amid the rapid advancement of digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI). A key highlight of the forum was a panel discussion titled "New Paradigms of International Communication in the Age of Digital Intelligence." The session focused on leveraging AI, telecommunication technologies, and digital platforms to improve content production, expand distribution reach, and increase international audience engagement. Cambodia’s participation in the forum offers a prime opportunity to strengthen ties and partnerships with media organizations from China and other countries in the region. It also facilitates knowledge sharing on digital content creation, the application of modern technology in journalism, and the capacity building of information officials and journalists. Furthermore, the platform enables participating nations to collaborate on addressing the challenges of fake news and disinformation effectively. Crucially, the event serves as a catalyst for Cambodia's information diplomacy. By utilizing this international platform, Cambodia aims to promote its national identity, cultural heritage, tourism potential, developmental achievements, and key government policies to regional and international audiences in an accurate, professional, and compelling manner. Through this engagement, Cambodia seeks to expand its media cooperation networks, co-create content, promote journalist exchange programmes, and elevate the visibility of Cambodian stories on regional and international stages.
