President Prabowo Prioritizes Eradicating Child Hunger and Poverty
President Prabowo has designated the eradication of child hunger, stunting, and extreme poverty as his administration's top priority, alongside enhancing food security, energy, and job creation. He also plans to promote domestic processing of natural resources and strengthen the rural economy.
President Prabowo Subianto has highlighted several fundamental issues that remain as homework for the government. Among the matters discussed are food security, energy, poverty, and job creation. Prabowo emphasized that the government is giving serious attention to the problems of child hunger, stunting, and absolute and extreme poverty. "For me, what we must immediately address is child hunger, stunting. And absolute poverty, extreme poverty," said Prabowo in the "President Prabowo Answers" program, quoted from a written statement from the Communication Agency on Thursday (17/9/2026). Furthermore, food security is a priority, where the government aims to meet the needs of the community. In the energy sector, palm oil-based biofuels such as B50 will be developed, as well as the large-scale utilization of solar energy. "The most fundamental thing for me is, I must secure food. After that, we must secure fuel (BBM)," Prabowo stated. These efforts will run in conjunction with the agenda of budget efficiency and saving state money from various leaks. The government is directing available resources towards investments in productive sectors that can generate foreign exchange and create jobs. In the economic sector, the government is also encouraging downstream processing (hilirisasi) to increase the added value of natural resources domestically. Several downstream processing projects have been initiated, which are expected to strengthen national industries while opening more job opportunities. Strengthening the community economy is also being carried out through the development of "Koperasi Desa Merah Putih" (Red and White Village Cooperatives) and "Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih" (Red and White Fishermen Villages). These programs are directed towards strengthening supply chains down to the village level, increasing community income, and reducing logistics costs. Moreover, Prabowo explained that the integration between fishermen's villages and the Red and White Village Cooperatives can provide market certainty for fishermen's catches while also supporting the fulfillment of the community's protein needs. "So they will not worry about where the offtake goes. The calculation is very clear, their lives will improve," he said. Meanwhile, in the education sector, the government continues to implement various interventions to improve the quality of human resources, including through digitalization of learning, school renovations, and enhancing teacher competencies. "We want everything to be faster, but God willing, we will succeed in achieving our targets," Prabowo concluded.
