Cambodian Embassy in Thailand Cooperates with Thai Authorities on Missing Fishermen Case

The Cambodian Embassy in Thailand is closely cooperating with Thai authorities in the rescue and search efforts for Cambodian workers who went missing in a fishing boat capsize incident in Thai waters. Sun Mesa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, stated this on the afternoon of July 20, 2026. According to Sun Mesa, the fishing boat departed for fishing on June 28, 2026, but contact with the boat owner and authorities was lost on July 10. To date, the bodies of two Cambodian nationals and one Thai national have been recovered. "So far, rescue teams have found three victims out of the five affected by the fishing boat capsize. Among the three found, there are two Cambodians and one Thai. The body of one Cambodian has been handed over to relatives for funeral rites, while the other body is being kept at the hospital awaiting family collection," the spokesperson elaborated. He added, "We are currently cooperating and searching for the two other Cambodians who are believed to have lost their lives."
