Marcos Declares Nov. 16-18 Non-Working Days in NCR for ASEAN Summit

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared November 16 to 18, 2026, as special (non-working) days in the National Capital Region for the 49th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit and Related Summits. The event, which will gather leaders from Southeast Asia and other countries, will run from November 10 to 12, with the President also signing Proclamation No. 362. "There is a need to grant the citizenry the opportunity to participate in the activities and to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of the summit," the proclamation read. "To allow the full participation of government agencies and the general public in the said event and to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of the summit, the period of November 16 to 18, 2026, are hereby declared special (non-working) days in the National Capital Region, subject to the provision of Proclamation No. 1074, s. 2021, which declared January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2026, as the period for the Philippines' hosting of the ASEAN Summit and Related Summits," Marcos added.
