Good Samaritan Aids Woman Attacked While Jogging at Phuket Dam, Urges Vigilance

An incident occurred at Bang Wad Dam in Kathu, Phuket, where a woman jogging was attacked. Mr Adisak Khaoraksa, 38, known as “James,” heard a friend of the victim shouting for help and rushed to the scene. By the time he arrived, the attacker had already fled. The victim stated she was punched in the stomach and had scratches on her face. According to her account, the assailant emerged from a wooded area with the apparent intention of sexual assault. She screamed loudly when she spotted a person who appeared to be a foreigner jogging some distance away. The noise startled the attacker, who then fled on a motorcycle. After ensuring the woman was in a safer location, Adisak rode around the relatively dark Bang Wad Dam area to check if other women were still jogging there. He warned those he found and escorted them out of the area for their safety. Adisak stressed that the victim had been dressed modestly in a long-sleeved top and sportswear, yet was attacked. He appealed to the public not to criticize or bully victims over their clothing, emphasizing that regardless of how anyone is dressed, everyone should prioritize their own safety. Police are investigating the case. Authorities and local residents advise people using the paths around Bang Wad Dam, especially after dark, to remain vigilant and take personal safety precautions.
