True Corp Partners with NBTC to Tighten SIM Registration in Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, Phetchaburi to Combat Cybercrime

True Corporation, a leading telecommunications operator in Thailand, has joined forces with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) to conduct rigorous inspections of SIM card registration measures in Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, and Phetchaburi provinces. This initiative is part of a broader national effort to combat technology-related crimes. The inspections focused on ensuring strict adherence to NBTC regulations regarding the registration and data collection of mobile phone service users. True Corporation has been actively cooperating by providing guidance on registration procedures and showcasing its robust security systems to facilitate effective government oversight. The findings from these assessments will be used to further enhance service standards. Key participants in the site visits included Mr. Naruepon Ratanasomahan, Head of Government Relations and Compliance at True Corporation, and from the NBTC, Pol. Gen. Dr. Natthathorn Phosunthorn, Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Integration of Legal Enforcement Approaches for Telecommunication Technology Crimes and National Security, along with other NBTC commissioners. They visited True shops, including the one at Central Mahachai in Samut Sakhon, as well as service centers in Samut Songkhram and Phetchaburi, to scrutinize processes such as identity verification, SIM registration, user data management, and service center operations. Pol. Gen. Dr. Natthathorn Phosunthorn stated, "This inspection is part of the proactive measures that the NBTC prioritizes to ensure that mobile subscriber registration data is accurate, complete, and verifiable. Accurate registration is not only a legal compliance matter but also a crucial mechanism to prevent the misuse of phone numbers by fraudsters and scam operations." Mr. Naruepon Ratanasomahan emphasized, "True Corporation is committed to strictly adhering to NBTC regulations and prioritizing customer safety. This collaboration is a significant step towards building a secure and trustworthy telecommunications ecosystem." Additionally, True offers a free service called "True CyberSafe" to protect customers by automatically blocking risky links and websites from SMS or internet usage. This public-private partnership underscores the strong commitment of both True Corporation and the NBTC to elevate national cybersecurity standards and safeguard the public from cyber threats.
