New Home Donated to Fallen Soldier's Family in Kampong Thom
A new house was donated to the family of a fallen soldier in Baray District, Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia. This humanitarian gesture, from former Prime Minister Hun Sen and current Prime Minister Hun Manet and their spouses, signifies gratitude towards veterans. Similar support continues nationwide.
Kampong Thom, July 21, 2026 -- Major General Som Sun, Commander of the Kampong Thom Provincial Military Operations Area and Vice Chairman of the Kampong Thom Provincial Association of Veterans and Retirees, on behalf of Mr. Noun Pharat, Governor of Kampong Thom Province and Chairman of the Kampong Thom Provincial Association of Veterans and Retirees, accompanied by Mr. Chuon Silavit, Head of the National Social Assistance Fund Branch of Kampong Thom Province, and Mr. Khon Chantha, Director of Baray District and Chairman of the Baray District Association of Veterans and Retirees, on the afternoon of July 20, 2026, presided over the handover of a new house, the 44th in Baray District. This valuable donation from Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Association of Veterans and Retirees of Cambodia, and Samdech Kittipote Bun Rany Hun Sen, as well as Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Dr. Pich Chanmony, was presented to the family of a fallen veteran in Pong Rolyng Village, Krawva Commune, Baray District, Kampong Thom Province. Mr. Khon Chantha, Director of Baray District and Chairman of the Baray District Association of Veterans and Retirees, reported that the house was handed over to Mrs. Ek Yen, 65, a widow and the wife of Mr. Svay Tim, a fallen veteran of the Baray District Military Unit of the Kampong Thom Provincial Military. He left behind five children. Mr. Khon Chantha expressed his deepest gratitude to Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet for providing the new house, the 44th, to fallen and disabled veterans and their families in Baray District, Kampong Thom Province. Major General Som Sun stated that over the past more than 10 years, Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, through the efforts of His Excellency Tea Seiha, Senior Minister, Minister of Public Works and Transport, and Chairman of the Association of Veterans and Retirees of Cambodia, have provided a total of 547 houses. This includes 241 houses built for veterans facing hardship, lacking land or homes, and providing 1.5 hectares of social land concession per family in the Morodok Techo Tluk Pring Veteran Development Center in Kraya Commune, Santuk District, Kampong Thom Province. Additionally, 306 houses were built and provided to veterans in various locations throughout Kampong Thom Province who owned land but lacked housing or had inadequate shelters. This is in recognition of the valor of the brothers and sisters who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the nation and the motherland of Cambodia. On this occasion of the new house handover, Major General Som Sun and Mr. Khon Chantha also presented household items and supplies, including mosquito nets, blankets, mattresses, pillows, kitchenware, and a sum of money, as a donation from Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and Dr. Pich Chanmony to the family of the fallen veteran for their use upon moving into their new home.
