Full service on the Airport Rail Link (ARL) has resumed between Phaya Thai and Suvarnabhumi airport stations as of 10:07 pm on Wednesday, following the removal of a train that derailed at its depot in Khlong Tan, Bangkok. Anant Phonimdaeng, governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), confirmed the resumption of full operations after the derailed train was cleared and a railway switch at the incident site was inspected. The investigation into the cause of the derailment is ongoing, conducted by SRT, SRT Electrified Train Co (SRTET), and Asia Era One Co, which took over the ARL operations from SRTET. Asia Era One has stated its intention to replace the railway switch and improve the reversing loop in the depot where the incident occurred to prevent future recurrences. The derailment happened at 12:47 am on Wednesday when an ARL train returning to the depot after its last service at midnight derailed. This incident disrupted train deployment throughout Wednesday, forcing operations to run at one-hour intervals instead of the usual 10-15 minutes. The Airport Rail Link is a vital transport link connecting inner Bangkok with Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thailand's main international gateway, operating daily from 5:30 am to midnight with six to eight trains depending on demand.
