Cambodia Rescues 551 Tourists Stranded by Heavy Rains in Mountainous Area
In Cambodia's Kampong Speu province, 551 tourists stranded by flash floods in a mountainous area have been safely evacuated to secure locations. The rescue operation involved environmental ministry rangers, local authorities, and community members, who also provided food and temporary shelter.
The Ministry of Environment in Cambodia has announced that all 551 tourists who were stranded due to flash floods in the Phnom Khun Sar area of Oral District, Kampong Speu Province, have been safely evacuated to secure locations. The rescue operation was completed by noon on July 13. Park rangers from the Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with local authorities and community members, guided the affected tourists to a safe area in Tang Bampon village. Food and temporary accommodation were also provided to the evacuees. Dr. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, stated that the ministry is closely monitoring disaster situations in protected natural areas and has instructed relevant officials to further strengthen cooperation with authorities to ensure the safety of all residents and tourists in the Phnom Khun Sar region.
