Employer sued for physically assaulting Myanmar worker after argument in Thailand

It has been learned from the Myanmar Embassy's labor attaché office in Thailand that a lawsuit has been filed against an employer who physically assaulted a Myanmar worker following an argument. It was reported on June 29 that an employer at a bento box delivery service in Chonburi Province, Thailand, engaged in an argument with an assistant worker, a Myanmar national named Daw Aye Nwe, over wages, and subsequently committed physical assault. Upon receiving this information, officials from the labor attaché office visited the site to meet with the parties involved. During the meeting, the victimized worker was promptly sent to the emergency department of Chonburi Hospital for medical treatment. With the medical records issued by the hospital, the worker immediately proceeded to the Chonburi Provincial Police Station and filed a lawsuit that same night to ensure that the perpetrator employer receives effective punishment under Thai law. The labor attaché office stated that it will continue to provide assistance to Daw Aye Nwe to ensure that her losses are compensated, her outstanding wages are recovered, and she receives full legal protection.
