Gas Leak Suspected in Medan Luxury Housing, 4 Missing After House Collapse

The afternoon on Monday (20/7/2026) in the Grand Polonia elite housing complex, Medan Polonia District, Medan City, suddenly turned into a tense arena. A powerful explosion, strongly suspected to originate from a leak in an underground gas pipeline, has flattened a luxury house numbered 3B. Meanwhile, two other residents had been successfully evacuated earlier, namely a father (head of the family) and a toddler, who were immediately rushed to the hospital to receive intensive medical treatment due to the injuries sustained. The incident, which occurred around 15:30 WIB, left massive damage. Based on initial investigation results and sweeping using special gas detector equipment, the police confirmed that the explosion originated from a leak in an underground gas pipe or underground gas pipe. The immense force of the explosion not only destroyed house 3B to the ground but also caused glass shards and debris to damage approximately 6 to 7 houses belonging to residents in the surrounding area.
