Wife Murder Suspect Dies in Traffic Accident While Fleeing in Cambodia's Kampong Speu
A man suspected of murdering his wife in Cambodia's Kampong Speu province has died in a traffic accident while fleeing. The suspect was killed instantly in a collision with a truck in Takeo province while en route to his hometown.
In Cambodia's Kampong Speu province, a husband is suspected of murdering his wife. After the alleged crime, the suspect fled on a motorcycle towards his hometown in Takeo province, but died in a traffic accident midway. The incident occurred around 8 PM on July 22, 2026, at a residence in the village of Poti Kandal, Commune Poti Angkrong, District Baseth, Kampong Speu province. The victim has been identified as Krout Sreyniy, 35, and the suspect as Oum Sokun, 36. The suspect is accused of brutally attacking his wife with a knife, leading to her death. According to Kampong Speu Provincial Police, after the alleged murder, Oum Sokun fled with a Let motorcycle (license plate: Kampong Speu 1M-1903) and the knife used as a weapon. Around 11 PM the same night, police from the Baseth District Police Inspectorate received information that the suspect had been involved in a traffic accident. He collided with a white 2.5-ton Hyundai truck (license plate: Phnom Penh 3G.5635) on National Road No. 2, between kilometers 65-66, in the village of Svay Prey, Commune Lumjong, District Samrong, Takeo province, and died instantly at the scene. The body of the suspect, Oum Sokun, was processed according to procedure by traffic police from the Samrong District Police Inspectorate and handed over to his relatives for traditional funeral rites.
