Cambodia to Hold Civil Servant Exams for Justice and Planning Ministries

Cambodia is scheduled to hold recruitment examinations on September 14, 2026, to select 15 officials for the Ministry of Justice and 16 for the National Institute of Statistics under the Ministry of Planning. The Royal School of Administration in Phnom Penh will serve as the joint examination center. The decision on the examination date and location was made during an inter-ministerial meeting led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service, Hun Many, on August 31. The meeting reviewed work progress and discussed key technical aspects for the competitive recruitment of civil servants. The Ministry of Civil Service stated that all stages of this competitive examination will be implemented strictly in accordance with the recommendations of Prime Minister Hun Manet. The goal is to further drive public administration reform based on the principles of meritocracy, transparency, justice, and inclusiveness, ensuring that "those who know are hired, and those who fail do so with dignity." Notably, individuals with expertise in economics, statistics, and information technology who pass the examination to work at the National Institute of Statistics of the Ministry of Planning will receive monthly salaries ranging from 2.5 million to 4 million Riel, and from 4 million to 6 million Riel, depending on the position, qualifications, and specified conditions. Candidates eligible for these salary ranges must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in economics, statistics, or related fields, along with at least 10 years of experience in senior management or leading expert teams. This initiative reflects the Cambodian government's commitment to enhancing the quality of its civil service and modernizing administrative functions. By offering improved compensation and career prospects, particularly for specialized roles within departments like the National Institute of Statistics, the government aims to attract and retain highly qualified professionals.
