MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Energy (DOE) is partnering with the World Nuclear Association to convene global experts, companies, regulators and policymakers for what could be the Philippines’ biggest nuclear conference. Now on its third edition, the DOE-led Philippine International Nuclear Supply Chain Forum will be held as a joint event with the World Nuclear Supply Chain Conference on Oct. 20 to 21 in Taguig. The partnership brings together the World Nuclear Association’s global reach and the DOE’s regional platform for nuclear industry cooperation, as the Philippines holds the ASEAN chairship this year. “As ASEAN countries explore sustainable pathways to meet growing energy demand, cooperation on policy, skills, investment and supply chain capability will be essential,” Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said in a statement yesterday. “This forum will support constructive dialogue and practical partnerships that can help unlock opportunities for nuclear energy development in the Philippines, across ASEAN and beyond,” Garin said. In particular, the event will focus on the practical steps needed to advance nuclear programs, including industrial readiness, vendor development, project delivery risks, financing and supply chain integration. It will also feature dedicated networking and business-to-business sessions to support collaboration between international suppliers and regional partners.
